From past experience, I got to a stage where I couldn’t move again, I couldn’t do it, and most of the people I support are in that stage. And then I tell them a little bit of my story and say, Yes, you can do it one day on your own. One day, you will do better than what you are doing now. But first, you have to take a step yourself.

Emmanuel’s path has been challenging, but he now works to inspire others and transform lives. His story begins with his experience of kidney failure. During these difficult moments, Emmanuel reflected on the care he received and realised he desired a more compassionate approach.

Three years after his recovery, Emmanuel embarked on a mission to pay it forward. A move to Exeter led him to the world of care. His honesty and eagerness to learn opened the door to training, marking the beginning of his career as a support worker. At LD Network, Emmanuel discovered his talent for empathy, listening, and motivating others. He understood the value of being there for someone and, in his words, “Putting a smile on their faces despite the pain of what they are going through.”

Emmanuel’s unique experience provided him with a profound sense of purpose. His past challenges and dedication to bringing others happiness have resulted in a fulfilling career as a support worker. His story is a testament to the power of empathy and the potential for positive change that lies within us all.
